Aotearoa is home to some of the freshest, highest quality food produce around – and the Best Foods Foodie Roadie with Ganesh Raj is here to show you how to cook with the best of our local produce.
We teamed up with New Zealand restaurateur, cook, and star of TV show ‘Eat Well for Less’ Ganesh Raj to go on a nationwide road trip from north to south, armed with Best Foods and a mission to sample and support Aotearoa’s local producers. Ganesh took inspiration from regional New Zealand specialties like Southland’s cheese rolls and fresh blue cod, and recreated them with a drool-worthy Best Foods twist.

Barry's Bay Cheese
Ganesh headed to Barry's Bay in picturesque Akaroa to taste-test Aotearoa’s finest cheeses and carefully curate a three-cheese extravaganza, all neatly packed into the quintessential local favourite, the Southland cheese roll dipped in decadent kimchi mayo. Havoc Farm Sausages
Ganesh made a stop at award-winning South Canterbury producer, Havoc Farm, home of sustainable free-farmed pork. Using a 100% artisan pork sausage, Ganesh topped it with 'poor man's parmesan’ and a triple green mayo using parsley, rocket, and coriander. Out of the Dark Mushrooms
There’s something special about New Zealand grown mushrooms. Ganesh met Phil from Out of the Dark Mushrooms to learn all about mushrooms and how they grow, and used fresh oyster, shiitake and enoki mushrooms with a delectable pasta all brought together with a creamy mayo sauce. Moeraki Blue Cod
Next stop – Ganesh travelled to the deep south to reel in Moeraki’s iconic catch blue cod with John of The Fish Wife, and whipped up the freshest of fresh blue cod elevated in a luxurious ‘Yum Yum’ sauce. Ridgeton Avocado Orchard is home to the perfect avocados in the verdant Bay of Plenty, Katikati. Ganesh spoke with avocado experts Craig and Tammy and created the nation's dreamiest beef tacos made with Best Foods guaca-mayo.
